Dear Sec 1N Students,

Please take note!

You are to submit you photographs in soft copy to your group leader in the following format latest by 8 April 2009, Wednesday:

1) Ensure the file is in jpeg format
2) Name the file as follows: name_indexno_class (eg. rachellow_26_1N7.jpeg)

Group Leader, please save all your members file in a thumb drive and label it with your name and class and hand it over to your class/art rep. You can share your thumb drive if you don't have one but please put it in your individual group folder!

Class/Art rep, please pass me all the thumb drive to my office by recess time. Please indicate on the class list, those who failed to submit.

I will deduct 5 marks to those who fail to submit the file by the dateline given everyday.

If there is any problem, please look for me in my office.

Please take note of the items that you would need for next week lesson:

1) Drawing Block/Paper (A3 Size)
2) Paint Brushes (Round/Flat Tip) - Different Sizes
3) Paint (Acrylic)
4) Paint Palettes
5) Container (eg, Mugs/Cups) to contain water
6) Apron (Optional)
7) Old Rags/Clothes
8) Glue

For those who forget to bring any of the art materials will be punished.

Please help to remind the rest of your classmates who can't be bothered to check this blog.

Dear Sec 1E,

I hope all of you had a fruitful and wonderful time during the photo trip. However, I also hope that all of you had at least taken at a photo based on the given theme, which is "Reflection".

As for the submission of the photos, please observe the following procedures closely;

1) Please name the file as follow: yourname_indexno_class (eg, ponsweemun_29_1E3)
2) Group leaders, please collect and save you members files in a thumbdrive.
3) Please ensure that the file is in .jpeg extention
4) Group Leaders please make sure you label you thumbdrive with ur name and class.
5) Submit the thumbdrive to your class rep/art rep latest by 3rd April 2009

For those who did not attend the trip, I will be conducting a session with all of you on the 30th March 2009 at 2.30pm in school. It will take about 1-2hrs. Please inform your parents that you will be in school for the photo thingy. Please bring along your own digital camera.

All of you can also take photos based on the theme around your house/neighbourhood or any other places.

If you have any problems or anything that you are not sure of, please feel free to ask me of Mr. Ho.

Dear All,

I am rather suprise to find out that there are still some of you who still don't get the slightest idea what to do with the sculpture or portraits.

This shows that either you are not paying attention in class or just can't be bothered with what I had gone through during my lesson.

To clarify all this doubts, please look and read the slides which i had already hosted in this blog on SOVA! Look under 'Recent Post' for the slides.

For those who DON'T UNDERSTAND what SOVA is. SOVA is basically about "ART CRITIQUE"!
In order for you to critique, you need to use a technique/approach. I had taught you one of the simplest approach which is the 'FELDMAN's APPROACH'(D.A.I.E). D - Describe, A - Analyse, I - Interpret, E - Evaluate. AGAIN... please look and study the slides on SOVA which i had posted on this blog!

In Feldman's Approach, you need to know the elements and principle of design by hard in order to use it to ANALYSE and INTERPRET the artwork.

For those who still don't understand, please look for me during recess or my lesson and i will explain to you again!

The Singapore Land Authority(SLA), is organising and Art Competition and it is open to all students. The theme of the Art Competition is "State Properties: Our Heritage, A New Life".

I encourage all of you to participate this Art Competition as competition not is all about winning, but a mode for you to gain exposure as well as experience. At the same time you will also be able to build up your personal portfolio as well as your confidence.

Hey everyone!

We are Les Animateurs and we have been representing our school CHIJ Secondary [Toa Payoh] in the national competition, N.E.mation! III and have emerged as one of the top ten teams.

About N.E.mation! III

NEmation! III is a competition for youths to express their views and ideas on Total Defence through animation. There have been 2 seasons before this, hence giving rise to the name N.E.mation! III.This competition has been organised annually since 2006,by Nexus (which is a part of MINDEF)

This year, the theme for the competititon is "What makes us Singaporean".
There were around 300 team entries into the competition, but the top 40 teams were chosen to undergo a 1-week emlimination and training at NYP, during the September Holidays.
During the 1-week training, we learnt about the basics of animation and the chosen story each team had submitted was editted by the different trainers in charge.
On the last day of the training, the top 10 teams emerged.

As we have been selected to be one of the teams to be in the top 10 this year, our minute long clip will be screened island-wide on free-to-air television.
During last year's December holidays, we underwent a 3-week production period to produce our animation clips.

Our animation, titled "The Singapore Symphony", is about using the different sounds of the Singaporean lifestyle,
For example, the sound of the Karang Guni horn or the clinking noise when you stir your morning cup of kopi.
These sounds will combine to form a "Singapore Symphony".
